Purpose of Job: To install, service, repair or advise on balers, compactors, conveyors, tippers and
similar equipment at customer sites.

At a later stage, to establish and manage a service desk to oversee the care of
Amber customers with balers, conveyors, compactors, tippers.

Duties:

1. To supervise and perform the installation and commissioning of capital equipment at customers’
premises, to test and run such equipment and sign it over to the customer.
2. To carry out repairs, modifications, overhauls and preventive maintenance to equipment at
customers’ premises as and when the need arises.
3. To advise and re‐train customers on the best use of their compaction and recycling equipment at
site so it is as cost‐effective for them as possible.
4. To promote the replacement of worn parts for best performance of equipment at site and to advice
on essential spares being kept by the customer at site.
5. To behave and promote the brands of OKAY and Amber in such a way that customers see both
companies as a reliable and trustworthy partner to use for their equipment supply and care.
6. To spend a substantial proportion of the working week away from home. This will necessitate
staying away overnight on a moderate basis.
7. To follow the procedures set out in the Quality Assurance Manual, the Quality Procedures and the
Working Procedures.
8. To prepare the appropriate documentation as required by procedures, for example: Site Work
Reports, Certificates of Acceptance, Inspection Sheets and other quality documentation, Time
Sheets, Expense Sheets, Machine Surveys, Internal Reports etc. To ensure that such documentation
is self‐explanatory.
9. To perform production work (of a “Fitter / Welder” nature or “Electrical Panel Builder / Wiring ”) in
the factory when not specifically engaged in outwork or outwork‐related tasks.
10. To inspect work under jobholder’s control during execution and upon completion to ensure that it
is defect‐free before transfer to the next operation.
11. To make every effort to carry out tasks within their planned times and bring to the attention of the
Installation / Service Manager, the Project Engineer or the Quality Representative any factor
affecting satisfactory and timely completion of a given task.
12. To observe at all times the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 including the regulations relating to
the use of compressed air and flammable materials; to maintain generally safe and clean working
areas.
13. To responsibly supervise all those reporting to the above position either directly or indirectly.
14. To work reasonable overtime when requested, as required by the pattern of work.
15. To work at unsociable and non‐standard hours including night‐time and occasional weekend
working. Note: The need for such working will be dictated solely by customers’ requirements and
the company will make every effort to keep such working to a minimum. To be able to drive and to
be in possession of a valid UK driving license.
16. To drive at all times in a safe and considerate manner and within the requirements the Highway
Code.
17. To carry out any other duties within the jobholder’s capability, including transferring to other work,
as and when required.
18. To work with colleagues to set‐up a service desk for Amber that provides the best care for its
customers and operates as cost‐effectively as possible for the business.
19. To manage the Amber service desk once established.
